Composting
At St. John's, caring for God's creation is an important part of our faith and common life. As Episcopalians, we are called to be faithful stewards of the earth, recognizing that the natural world is a gift entrusted to our care.

St. John's is a community drop-off site for Java's Compost. Through this partnership, parishioners, neighbors, and friends can divert food scraps from landfills, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and help return valuable nutrients to the soil.
Composting is a simple but meaningful act of creation care. It connects our daily habits to our faith, reminding us that the gifts of the earth are not disposable but part of God's ongoing work of renewal and abundance.
Java's Compost offers a convenient drop-off subscription for $20 every four weeks, allowing participants to bring up to two 3-gallon compostable bags of food scraps each week to the St. John's collection site, including items not typically compostable at home such as meat scraps and many paper products. There is no long-term contract, making it easy to get started and see whether composting works for your household.
Whether you're new to composting or have been looking for a local option, we invite you to join us in this practical expression of creation care.
