Our Spaces
Church: Seats up to 150 guests
Parish Hall: Accommodates up to 150 for a standing reception or 100 for a seated meal
Gardens & Lawn: Ideal for gatherings, photos, and quiet moments
Our historic stone church, with its warm 19th-century brick and wood interior, has been a place of prayer for more than 120 years. Here, the vows you make will become part of a living tradition, joining the prayers and promises of those who have come before you within these sacred walls.
The Parish Hall, built in 1923, features exposed beams, wood floors, and a coffered ceiling in an English vernacular style. It is a welcoming and flexible space for receptions, with a full commercial kitchen available for your caterer of choice.
The enclosed lawn and lush gardens with towering oak trees, are the perfect romantic setting for photos before and after the ceremony.
Conveniently located near downtown Montclair, St. John’s is close to hotels, restaurants, and event venues, and just one block from the Walnut Street train to New York City. Ample street parking is available for free.
Planning Your Ceremony
St. John’s understands that each couple is unique and has their own needs and desires for their ceremony. As a result, we keep requirements to a minimum. You are welcome to shape the details of your ceremony in a way that reflects your vision, including music, flowers, and other personal touches. You may also invite your own officiant.
If you would like our Priest-in-Charge to officiate, she is glad to speak with you about what that would involve. If she is officiating, premarital counseling is offered as part of the preparation, to support and strengthen your life together as a couple.
Couples do not need to be members of the parish, though we warmly welcome you to join us for worship at any time.
For scheduling and initial questions, please contact our Parish Office - or come to worship with us and speak with our priest.
As part of our ministry to the wider community, we offer our sacred space as a setting for prayer, beauty, and celebration for weddings that are rooted in love. We welcome all couples, regardless of faith tradition or sexual orientation.
