Serving Our Neighbors

Our Outreach Ministries:

  • Macheo Children’s Center in Kenya, our international outreach. We help to feed malnourished children in East Africa and provide them with clothes and supplies so they are able to attend school.

  • MESH, Montclair Emergency Services for Hope. St. John’s provides dinner to those in need on a monthly basis.

  • North Porch, for single mothers and their babies in Newark. Parishioners contribute essential baby and toddler needs all year long and help out at the Newark location.

  • Prison Ministry, through the Diocese of Newark. We help meet the needs of the children whose parents are incarcerated by collecting school supplies, holiday gifts, and hosting events for the families.

  • St. Paul’s Men’s Shelter in Paterson. Parishioners work together monthly to assemble a meal which is then taken to and served at the Paterson location.

  • Seamen’s Church Institute, for sailors at Port Newark. Our “Tuesday Group” gathers weekly to knit hats and scarves for men at sea.

  • 4Cs, childcare assistance program in Paterson. The congregation sponsors a back-pack drive and toy drive for the children of 4Cs.

The Little Pantry
The Little Pantry is our way of caring for neighbors through free food and essentials—simple acts of kindness and hospitality rooted in Christ’s teaching.

Give what you can. Place nonperishable, unopened, and unexpired food, hygiene, or sanitary items directly into the pantry. A good rule: give what you’d want to receive. Even one item can make a difference.

Take what you need. If you need something, please take it—no questions asked. The pantry is for everyone. Take only what you need, trusting it will be here again when you do.

Location: In front of the Parish Hall at 57 Montclair Avenue. Donations can also be left in the Church Narthex or Parish Hall kitchen.

Grounded in faith, we serve our community through ministries of compassion and justice. We seek to provide basic needs for those who need them and advocate for long-lasting change.

We also provide a home to groups that support the diverse needs of our larger Montclair community, including:

  • Alcoholics Anonymous

  • Al-Anon

  • Hungarian Children’s School for Language & Culture

  • Magic for Muggles Summer Camp

  • Music Together, “Mommy & Me” music for babies and toddlers

  • New Jersey School of Dramatic Arts

  • Parlez-Vous Francais?, Children’s School for French Language & Culture
